We are writing a book using the Wiki software PBWiki. There are multiple authors and reviewers in several countries. Using the wiki has almost eliminated our email exchanges. We have not had a single conference call to discuss the book. All communication is via the wiki. PBWiki is very user friendly. Some of the authors are using a wiki for the first time.
The only small problem is that when we cut and paste content from a MS WORD document, it gets really messy with Microsoft HTML code. Same problem with the documents in Jive Clearspace, a community software I use at work.
